The Lost Boys of Anzac
April 19, 2017
On Anzac Day the Gallipoli landing is remembered in some detail. However most of us know little of the lives or the names of the soldiers who died there. Peter Stanley, formerly a historian at the Australian War Memorial, has researched previously unexplored records from the AIF and the Red Cross and has written a book called the Lost Boys of Anzac which documents the known biographical details of the 101 members of the 9th 10th and 11th Battalions who were in the wave of landings at Anzac Cove and who died that day. There will be a service at St Marks where these 101 are remembered by name and participants can light a candle for a loved one and to pray for peace.
